LAW & ORDER (Extras)
Episodic SAG
Casting Director: Ali Merhi
Shoot/Call Date: 8/13- 8/22
Location: Manhattan

For an upcoming episode of Law & Order. It will kick off with a disabled man helping them solve a crime. We are looking for individuals who would be interested in doing background work on the show. We are looking for people who can portray members of a group home with down syndrome & learning disabilities. We will shoot between Aug. 13 – Aug. 22 2008 for a possibility of one or two days of work.

Ugh! I’m having surgery on the 15th, otherwise I would sooo be there! Next time, OK?

Thank you! Amen.

Oh, P.S. If you need ideas for the set, take a look at these old insane asylums. According to the Associated Press, a lot of these buildings are on the National Register of Historic Places, and preservationists want to restore them – because of the architecture. Seriously cool.

If those walls could talk…

** Let me clarify: I DO NOT consider people with down syndrome and learning disabilities to be “insane.” Obviously. This is an archaic term that is cited in the article, and what these institutions were once referred to as. I worked at a socialization center for the mentally ill for three years and have the utmost respect for people battling demons and living with disabilities. Just so we’re clear. I’m simply fascinated by these old buildings. The unfortunate “treatments” that went on inside them is a completely different issue.
